About Julie Elliot Almeida
The founder of elliotandcompany grew up in Hawick, Scotland, a small town surrounded by farms and rolling green hills. Julie bid goodbye to this pastoral setting to backpack around the world, eventually landing in the U.S. to pursue a medical career.
Julie studied molecular and cell biology at University of California, Berkeley. She conducted clinical research on rare malignancies at Kaiser Permanente, volunteered in the emergency and operating departments at Marin General Hospital, trained as an Emergency Medical Technician, and served as Vice President of the UC Berkeley chapter of the American Medical Student Association. During this time, Julie also mentored children from low socio-economic backgrounds, and published a resource guide for bay area homeless families.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts, Julie took a well-deserved break from her medical pursuits. A friend introduced her to a family who hired her to get their lives in order during a home renovation—purging what they didn’t need, selling some things, donating the rest, and then organizing every room from the kitchen to the playroom to the cellar. That family referred Julie to another family and that led to another, until one day she found herself with a long list of happy clients, a team of detail-oriented people working with her, and amazingly little desire to go back to medical school.
And thus, elliotandcompany was born.
Julie served as the Chapter Program Director of NAPO-SFBA (National Association of Professional Organizers, San Francisco Bay Area 2009-2011), and a member of NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) since 2008 and, she currently serves as a NAPO Ambassador. Julie is also a Golden Circle member (The Golden Circle designation is awarded to members who have been in the business of professional organizing for a minimum of five years and a NAPO National member for at least one year).
